Standard Paper Sizes
The paper most of us are familiar is A4 which is used in photocopiers and desktop printers. Below is a table of sizes for A4, A3, A2, A1 & A0 listed in mm, cm and inches. Each size is twice the area of the previous size (so A3 is twice the area of A4)
Size A4 has its shortest edge (210mm) doubled to be the longest edge of A3 (420mm). A3 has its shortest edge (297mm) doubled to be the longest edge of A2 (594mm). And similarly up to A0.
If requiring to enlarge an image it is usually necessary to move up two paper sizes to keep the aspect ratio (i.e. double the size of each edge) otherwise there will be a large border and the image will only be approximately half as big. Similarly, if printing a scaled drawing to a different paper size it is necessary to move two paper sizes to preserve a recognizable scale (i.e. A drawing designed at 1:100 at A3 is 1:50 at A1)>

Other Paper Sizes
Ezeeplan also print paper width 914mm (36") which is a size commonly used in the USA. Engineering drawings and model plans originating in the USA are often designed to 914mm paper. Similarly we are able to print gloss and satin to the 914mm size. Prices are per metre printed.
And for the very large posters and images we print right up to a width 44" - and as we print from rolls it can be to any length. Please email for details.
Paper Weight
Paper is specified in texture and weight. Standard A4 photocopier paper is usually 75gsm or 80gsm. The weight in grams is the actual weight of an A0 sheet of paper.
Ezeeplan print plans and engineering drawings on 80gsm standard paper whilst a poster will be printed onto 90gsm paper.
We normally print images and posters on printers which use a mixture of ink and dye. The paper becomes wet during the process so if the paper is too thin it will start to wrinkle. Therefore for quality images and posters we recommend a 120gsm coated paper. This heavier paper is not only capable of absorbing the ink without wrinkling but the coated paper gives an improved finish, especially for colour. And for high quality images we recommend the 240gsm gloss or matt/satin paper which gives terrific results bringing colours alive.
